A Kind Of Manifesto
Good wine is so much more than the industrial product that fills the shelves of supermarkets.
Wine is one of the last and best ways of finding and enjoying the bounty of nature and the sun in a direct, simple, ecologicaly sound way.
The sun shines, the fruit ripens. In all good wine from a small holder in the north of Italy, to the vineyards of Chile, to the playground that is Napa to the first classed growths of Bordeaux the wine is pressed, fermented and bottled. Thats it.
We have no idea where our carrots come from, where coke ingredients emerge or by whom. Except in Wine.
We know the year, often the date, the location of bottleing, who did it and the soil on which the vines grew, often to within a few yards of their location, try that with any other thing we eat or buy from cars to chicken.
Best of all. Unlike cigarettes for example, which when used as directed cause disease, death and misery. Wine when used as directed can enhance life, health and happiness.
